Patents Etcetera and Integral BioSystems Jointly Offer Integrated IP-Drug Development Strategies
Boston area intellectual property (IP) firm Patents Etcetera and contract research organization (CRO) pharmaceutical development firm Integral BioSystems have joined forces in offering drug development services that start with an IP strategy review.

According to the CEO of Integral BioSystems, LLC, Shikha P. Barman, Ph.D., instead of investing dollars and time in a lengthy approval process for a new chemical entity (NCE), pharmaceutical companies are seeking to reduce risks and costs by finding new uses for existing products. Companies that take this approach fit naturally within the risk reduction model because they start with approved compounds with established history of use in humans. This approach to drug development, using repurposed, already-approved compounds, can make it possible for new drug formulations to enter the clinical development phase more rapidly and at much lower cost than when NCEs are used.read more

Grantham MechVent™ Licensing Opportunities to be Presented at the Firehouse Expo to be held in Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland from July 19-21, 2012
Patent Attorney Dave Karasic of Patents Etcetera announces the offer of licensing, in any and all of the Patent Cooperation Treaty countries, of the Grantham MechVent™ at the Firehouse Expo in Baltimore, Maryland, July 19 -21, 2012.

Patent attorney Dave Karasic, founder and Chief Counsel of Patents Etcetera, a Boston area intellectual property and product promotion firm, will be in Booth #250 at the Firehouse Expo in Baltimore, Maryland, July 19 -21, to discuss the licensing of the Grantham MechVent design with all interested parties. This firefighting tool (Patent Cooperation Treaty approval pending), provides a means to remove the smoke and heated air from a burning compartment without the requirement that a firefighter be physically in the building. Incorporating this functionality incurs the advantages of improved visibility inside the building, while limiting the possibility of the occurrence of flashover events resulting from the accumulation of excess heat in the burning compartment. The negative pressure ventilation capability by way of the MechVent™ hydraulic ventilation feature handily accomplishes these goals.read more

Grantham MechVent™ to be Presented at the Firehouse Expo to be Held in Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland from July 19th to the 21st
Inventor Bobby Grantham, and Patent Attorney Dave Karasic of Patents Etcetera, announce the participation of Grantham MechVent™ at the Firehouse Expo in Baltimore, Maryland, July 19-21. Product redesign to be revealed.

The overarching goal of inventor Bobby Grantham in his design of this defensive firefighting tool, dubbed the Grantham MechVent™ (Patent Cooperation Treaty approval pending), was to provide a means to remove the smoke and heated air from a burning compartment without the requirement that a firefighter be physically in the building. Incorporating this functionality would incur the advantages of improved visibility inside the building, while limiting the possibility of the occurrence of flashover events resulting from the accumulation of excess heat in the burning compartment. The negative pressure ventilation capability by way of the MechVent™ hydraulic ventilation feature handily accomplishes these goals.read more

Innovative New Invention, the Grantham MechVent™ Fire Fighting Tool, Shown on Canada's Discovery Channel

The inventor Bobby Grantham, designer and builder of the Grantham MechVent™ (patent pending) announces a video presentation of the Grantham MechVent™ in action.

During the Daily Planet expose of the MechVent™ (patent pending), designed and built by inventor and fireman Bobby Grantham, the different capabilities of this genuinely novel and unprecedented breakthrough in firefighting technology were demonstrated. One novel feature touted by the inventor, the capability of the MechVent™ to be put into position in the window of a burning building without putting the firefighting crew in jeopardy, was shown.

Another important innovation incorporated into the Grantham MechVent™ is its firefighter escape platform. When fighting a fire, there sometimes arises a need for the firefighter to escape from a burning building by diving out the window and down the ladder headfirst. Being trained in this important emergency procedure, inventor Bobby Grantham saw a way to improve the odds of emergency firefighter egress from a burning building without injury to the firefighter, and incorporated this innovation into the MechVent™.read more

Boston Area IP Development / Promotion Firm Patents Etcetera Announces the Successful First Public Demonstration of the Grantham MechVent™

In the making since August 2011, the Grantham MechVent™ (patent pending), produced as a collaborative product of Patents Etcetera and inventor Robert (Bobby) Grantham, has been tested and proved successful. This innovative firefighting tool is sure to help save lives and property.

In August of 2011, Patents Etcetera's founder and chief legal counsel, Attorney Dave Karasic, and inventor Bobby Grantham, formed a partnership for the development of an innovative firefighting tool offering the heretofore unavailable capability of the conditioning of a burning compartment before firefighter entry in order to increase visibility and the overall safety of entering firefighters as well as any civilians who may be present therein.

Although no longer physically able to be on the front lines of firefighting himself, Bobby evinced a passionate desire to try to help save a life of a firefighter by bringing to fruition this unprecedented firefighting tool. A development agreement between the parties soon ensued, and a provisional application for patent was entered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.read more

Patents Etcetera Announces the Planned Testing of the Grantham MechVent™

Boston area intellectual property law firm Patents Etcetera, in conjunction with inventor Bobby Grantham, announces the planned testing of the Grantham MechVent™. The Grantham MechVent™, an innovative firefighting invention currently under patent pending protection in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, was conceived by inventor Bobby Grantham to minimize the possibility of flashover in a building fire.

As noted on the Grantham MechVent™ website, hot dense smoke is a precursor to flashover in a building fire. When heat mixes with smoke, it forces a firefighter to crouch down on hands and knees to enter a room to perform search and rescue. This must be considered a warning sign that flashover may occur, as heat is the triggering variable for flashover. If the heat in the smoke filled room causes firefighters to crouch down near the floor, flashover may be imminent.read more

The Grantham MechVent™ Website is Live
Boston area intellectual property law firm Patents Etcetera announces the launch of the Grantham MechVent website. The Grantham MechVent™ development is a joint effort of the inventor Robert (Bobby) Grantham and Patents Etcetera.

Visit the Grantham Mechvent website

The Boston Area intellectual property law firm, Attorney Dave Karasic DBA Patents Etcetera, announces that the website for the innovative firefighting tool, the Grantham MechVent™, is now open.

Conceived and developed by firefighter Bobby Grantham, the Grantham MechVent™, currently under patent pending protection, is a novel firefighting defensive tool which reduces the possibility of flashover, the explosive combustion of the contents of a burning compartment.

Flashover signals the beginning of the structural collapse danger. When operating at a fire, firefighters want to delay flashover inside a burning room. By delaying flashover, firefighters can "buy" several minutes which may be critical. For example, you may want to delay flashover to make a search and rescue of the burning room or to allow a firefighter to go to a room above or next-to the fire to rescue a trapped victim. Or, you may want to delay flashover to gain several minutes when there is a delay in the placement of the first fire hose.
